Through Artemisia Gentileschi’s Baroque paintings of Judith, Billie Q got intrigued by the story of Judith and Holofernes. She began to explore its complex interpretations in art history and biblical studies. Inspired by this heroine myth she created her own torn narrative, made out of nightmares, fantasies and bodies that long, scar, rest and rage. Nothing has happened. Yet. Nothing is happening. Just now. A flash of a false memory. An image thought to be forgotten. A suppressed anger entering the room.
